A Refined Balance of Contemporary Elegance and Warm Minimalism | Poly Tianrui (188) Private Residence, Guangzhou

Modern design is no longer defined solely by restrained lines and rational expression, but by the infusion of warmth and emotion within that restraint. Designed by Simba, this residence at Poly Tianrui (188) in Guangzhou offers a nuanced interpretation of “contemporary elegance and luxury.” Through soft curves, natural stone, and layered lighting, the space achieves a balance of purity and livable tension—responding to the dual aspirations of urban elites for comfort and refined aesthetics.

Entrance
The entry space unfolds with expansive warm beige walls and concealed storage systems, creating a calm and understated welcoming atmosphere. Clean cabinet lines avoid unnecessary ornamentation, while refined detailing and integrated lighting add depth to the façade. The focal point lies in the feature wall: natural veined marble paired with a floating console forms an artistic backdrop. Soft linear lighting extends from the ceiling down both sides, enhancing the fluidity of the stone texture. Floral arrangements and curated objects subtly introduce a sense of life, making the space quietly sophisticated yet full of character.

Living Room
Organized around a full-height window, the living room maximizes natural light, bringing greenery and city views indoors. The design deliberately lowers furniture profiles to maintain open sightlines, enhancing spatial continuity and transparency.Curved sofas and lounge chairs form a conversational layout, reinforcing both social interaction and the overall soft design language. A sculptural coffee table anchors the space visually and functionally. Lighting plays a key role: a multi-layered curved ceiling combined with hidden light strips and artistic pendant fixtures creates a soft, ambient environment. This “no main light” approach elevates the sense of luxury while allowing light itself to shape the atmosphere. The TV feature wall uses large-format stone, integrated with a linear flame fireplace, adding warmth to the otherwise cool material palette and serving as an emotional balance point.

Dining Area
The dining space continues the beige and stone material palette, with a more focused and refined expression. A round dining table sits at the center, optimizing circulation while strengthening family interaction. Enclosed by softly curved dining chairs, the layout echoes the living room’s design language. Above, a flowing sculptural chandelier, framed by a circular ceiling recess, creates a ceremonial dining ambiance. The backdrop combines stone, wood finishes, and open shelving, balancing storage and display while layered lighting enhances depth. A glass partition near the kitchen maintains visual transparency while subtly defining functional zones, ensuring a seamless connection between dining and kitchen areas.

Bedroom
The master bedroom returns to calmness and relaxation, using softer materials and tones to create a private retreat. Large blank walls combined with delicate linear detailing result in a clean, ordered space. The bed is designed low and wide, with a mix of fabric and leather enhancing tactile comfort. Vertical lines and subtle lighting on the feature wall add depth without disrupting tranquility.A full-height window introduces abundant natural light, softened by sheer curtains to create gentle light and shadow. On the opposite side, a semi-transparent glass wardrobe integrates storage into the design, elevating overall refinement. Flooring transitions from stone in public areas to warm wood, naturally shifting both physical comfort and visual tone toward relaxation—marking the most intuitive emotional transition in the home.

A Contemporary Expression of Lifestyle
This private residence at Poly Tianrui (188) does not rely on overt stylistic labels. Instead, it achieves a sophisticated sense of ease through precise control of materials, proportions, and light. Here, design does not dominate but recedes into the background, allowing residents to breathe freely, reflect, and truly enjoy life—perhaps the most compelling expression of contemporary high-end living.
